  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese: 2 cups (Freshly grated)
  • Salt & Black Pepper: To taste
  • Garlic Powder: 1/2 teaspoon (Optional, but highly recommended)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Boil the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to the package instructions (usually 8-10 minutes) until al dente. Drain the water and set the pasta aside.
  2. Make the Roux (Sauce Base): While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a separate large skillet or pot over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until lightly golden and bubbly.
