Trippy music video using Zoom

Artists continue to be shooting trippy music video — they’re just over Zoom now.

Thao & The Get Down Stay Down, a band based in California, which includes a statewide remain at home order, filmed the video for their song”Phenom” on the video conferencing program. It starts with singer and frontrunner Thao Nguyen opening the app. Background organizers join the telephone as the beat picks up.

The choreography involves dancers looking to fall into each other’s calls, pour water into each other’s mouths, and rage in coordination. Then, the dancers converge around Thao and shape a humanoid figure through Zoom’s grid.

Social distancing does not indicate that creative projects — such as this trippy music video — are on hold. “Phenom” is evidence.
