Better than any store-bought blue cheese dressing is this simple homemade version. It’s exceptionally creamy and ideal for using as a dipping sauce or tossing with salad.

The Best Blue Cheese Dressing Recipe

You probably already have most of the items you need in your home to make this better than store-bought blue cheese dressing, and it only takes a few minutes to prepare. This creamy dressing is just as simple to prepare as our homemade Italian vinaigrette, creamy Caesar, and buttermilk ranch dressing!

Ingredients

    • Fresh parsley:

We love fresh herbs and use them in almost everything. Fresh parsley gives the dressing color and flavor.

    • Salt and pepper:

Although the mayonnaise and cheese already contain some salt, we always end up adding more salt to the dressing to really bring out the flavor. Pepper provides a little heat.

    • Milk or water:

You can think about adding a little milk or water depending on what you intend to use the dressing for. The dressing would be too thick without it, making it ideal for dipping. A small amount of milk or water is necessary to make it pourable like a salad dressing.

Directions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, blue cheese, parsley, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  • To add even more flavor, push some of the crumbled blue cheese into the sauce with the back of a spoon. Because of its thickness, the dressing is ideal for dipping.
  • Add a tablespoon or two of milk, buttermilk, or water to create a pourable salad dressing. After tasting, add more lemon juice, salt, and pepper as needed.

For a week, place the food in the fridge well wrapped.
