This recipe, which combines your preferred beer with a variety of cheeses and mouthwatering seasonings, is a great complement to any appetizer table! Accompany with veggies, tortilla chips, or pretzel nibbles!

Beer of Choice for Cheese Dip

  • Stouts and malts are examples of dark beers that have a rich, bitter flavor.
  • A lighter flavor will be imparted by light beers
  • Beers without alcohol also work well in this recipe!


  • Four tsp unsalted butter
  • All-purpose flour, 1/4 cup
  • One cup of lager beer
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half
  • 1 tspn of mustard Dijon
  • one tsp of sauce Worcestershire
  • 1/4 teaspoon powdered garlic
  • tsp of salt
  • One-half teaspoon of cayenne
  • 1 cup of cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup of Gruy√®re cheese, shredded
  • One tablespoon of finely chopped fresh chives, optional for serving
